Data your agents can safely resell
If you build a product on top of LiveDataLink, you are redistributing our data to your users. This page explains why that is safe: the underlying data is US public-domain government work, openly licensed open data, or uncopyrightable facts.
Most "data APIs" hand you numbers wrapped in a license that forbids resale, caching, or redistribution. That is a landmine for anyone building an agent or a product, because the value your users see is exactly the thing the license prohibits. LiveDataLink is built the opposite way. Nearly every domain we serve traces back to a US government work (public domain by statute, 17 U.S.C. 105), an openly licensed open dataset (CC0, CC-BY), or plain factual data that no one can copyright (Feist v. Rural, 1991). You can cache it, transform it, resell it, and build a business on it.
Provenance matrix
Every one of our 59 live data domains, with its upstream source and the legal basis that makes it resale-safe. This table is generated from the live catalog, so the Source column always matches what the tools actually query.

What the basis labels mean
- US Gov work, public domain. Works created by US federal agencies are not eligible for copyright (17 U.S.C. 105). FMCSA, SEC EDGAR, the Census, EPA, USGS, and dozens more fall here.
- Public-domain court records. Judicial opinions and the text of the law carry no copyright under the government-edicts doctrine.
- CC0 / open data (CC-BY). Datasets the publisher has openly licensed for reuse, including redistribution. GLEIF LEI data and OpenAlex are CC0, the World Bank is CC-BY 4.0.
- Uncopyrightable facts. Prices, quotes, and statuses are facts, and facts are not copyrightable. We deliver them live from a feed, but what you pass on to your users is factual data, not a creative work.
- Derived from public-domain sources. Our cross-source and scoring tools compute over the public-domain data above. The inputs are resale-safe and the derived output is our own compute, which we license to you to use and redistribute.
Provenance on every response
Resale-safety is only useful if you can prove it downstream. Every API response already carries a Source: citation line naming the upstream agency or dataset for the data returned, so your users (and your compliance team) can trace any value back to its origin.
